First Do No Harm

Dr. Clearfield's novel
Clearfield's characterization and plot development are so intense and well done that this book is difficult to stop reading. He uses his medical knowledge to insight different story lines which are done with punctual detail of specific items known in the medical field. As a doctor, this book was made even more compelling to me because I understood a lot of the anxiety of the main character, Callison. The interesting part though, that any person could read this book with the same heightened tension and excitement in which i did. There are a lot of medical terms, but they are all explained and he does not focus on them but the plot which is unfolded so intriguingly that your mind can not stop guessing what the outcome of certain situations will be; whether you would like to or not. This was definitely one of my favorite books of the year and written superbly in my opinion. Bravo!

First Success
The author really captures one from the very 1st page. A truly gripping and well written novel. Can't wait until the next book by this wonderful, up and comming author.

Chicagoland Ghosts (Tales of the Supernatural Series)
Published in Paperback by Thunder Bay Press (June, 1998)
Author: Dylan Clearfield
Average review score:

It was OK.
This book was OK. The author had a good blend of well-known stories with lesser-known ones. But I grew tired of the undocumented "this happened to a relative of mine" and "I'm the only one who knows this" stories that read like campfire tales. Many of the sections are literally only 3 or 4 sentences and state only the location and that "some say it is haunted". I was interested as to why but no reasons are stated or incidents/evidence are given. Try'Chicago Haunts' by Ursula Bielski and 'Haunted Illinois' by Troy Taylor for better local haunted tales. I gave this book 3 stars because the author is a good story-teller.

A succint compilation of Chicago-area supernatural stories
In this compact volume, Mr. Clearfield has collected a variety of brief but engaging explanations of the Chicago area's most popular ghost-related tales, along with a large number of lesser-known stories from nearby Joliet, Illinois. If you collect books of regional ghostlore, you'll want this for your collection.

Floridaland Ghosts
Published in Paperback by Thunder Bay Press (December, 2000)
Authors: Dyuan Clearfield and Dylan Clearfield
Average review score:

Floridaland Ghosts
This badly-titled book is simply a compilation of ghost stories gleaned from various books and articles to which the author adds nothing. He does not even bother to ensure that the alleged haunted locations still exist. For example, the author claims there is a haunted clock tower on Macomb Street in Tallahassee and even includes a photograph (identified as "Author's photo"). In fact, the old clock tower was dismantled years ago so the author could not possibly have photographed it. Nevertheless, the book is entertaining to some degree and provides some general information about a few of Florida's better-known haunts.
